Starfury: SERENITY LA- Saturday Morena Baccarin & Jewel Staite

When Jewel Staite & Morena Baccarin stepped on stage, the first thing they noticed (after the darkness of the room) was that their seats were very far apart. With much effort, they moved their chairs together and were ready for questions.
Joss Whedon is known for creating very powerful female characters, the first questioner said, but their characters aren't physically strong. She asked, was much thought put into that decision? Not really, Jewel replied.
They talked about the weapon that Morena used in the Reaver battle in Serenity (a bow & arrow) and how it was a CGI arrow. Then Morena brought up the weapon that Jewel had in that scene. Seems that when Kaylee was supposed to cock the gun and say ‘I gonna live!’ Jewel couldn’t pull back the hammer on the gun. "So, they took out the spring and I had to mime it and I didn't want you guys to know. (To Morena) I hate you."
Next, Jewel was asked what her favorite tool was. Someone in the audience yelled out "Simon!"
The next person said that Nathan Fillion mentioned that Jewel was going to be staying with him while she was in town and wondered if they were going to re-start the Flipping Off contest. Jewel said "No, he's afraid of me." And that there is a picture in his bathroom of her flipping him off.
When asked what it is like to work on other shows Morena responded "Every show we work on sucks compared to Firefly." Jewel added that they don't come to conventions to hang out with us, they come to hang out with each other.
Just then, a bottle of champagne and two glasses were brought on stage for them. (Don't you just love the British?)
Someone asked Morena why she thought Inara decided to get the shuttle on Serenity. But Morena said she would have to get permission from Joss. When someone suggested that she call him, she said "He doesn't take my calls."
What was their favorite episode to work on? Morena said "Out of Gas" and Jewel has "this thing" for "Objects in Space".
Next, Morena was asked “If you were in a movie where you had to make out with someone of the same sex who would it be? Jewel said Jessica Alba.” “Thanks for that” Jewel replied. Morena thought for a moment, looked over at Jewel and said “I’m not gonna pick you, you didn’t pick me.” She then decided on Ava Green, the most recent Bond girl.
The next question for Morena was more of a statement, “I love your hair.” Morena confessed she had a “mini freak-out” about cutting it. Jewel told her she really liked her hair. “You look like a swan.” “If you like eatin’ horseshit.” Morena finished for her. (A flash back to a running joke that Nathan pulled on all the cast.)
Next question, if you could take one piece of the set? Morena wants Inara’s room. Jewel already has Kaylee’s room door and her hammock. “I really wanted some of your dresses.”
Then Morena mentioned that Joss used to call them The Crabby Sisters because of the way they pretended to be irritated with each other.
Most surprising place they’ve found fans? New York (?!?)
Best craft service? Grilled cheese.
Finally, Jewel was asked if when she found out she was going to play a doctor, did she call Sean Maher for advice? “I have a list of excuses to call Sean Maher” she said.
