With the season of giving nearing, this is the perfect time to talk about some available fundraising opportunities! There are many celebrities doing some fundraising, as well as Whedonopolis’ own recent charity event.
We recently wrapped up the 2015 Whedonopolis Halloween Event featuring Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog with a special appearance by Joss Whedon in Hollywood, CA! The screening was completely sold out; so many thanks to Joss Whedon for showing up and entertaining fans! It was a blast! The event also included an online drawing. The winners of the drawing were Carla White, Lynda Foley, and Michele Morris – they each received a pair of Copper Weekend Passes to Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural Official Convention donated by Creation Entertainment. Both the event and drawing benefited Kids Need To Read and raised over $3,500! Kids Need To Read is a national nonprofit foundation that promotes childhood literacy and addresses the crisis in library funding that currently exists in the United States, please continue to support them in any way you can!
For those who missed it, here’s a link with some video coverage.
Now let’s move onto some upcoming/ongoing opportunities!
Nathan Fillion: Charity: Water. Nathan is fundraising for Charity: Water, and so can you! Nathan is currently promoting “What Would Malcolm Reynolds Do?” and “What Would Richard Castle Do?” t-shirts that you can purchase on Represent.com. All of the proceeds go to Charity: Water who helps bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.
Jared Padalecki: Always Keep Fighting – Part IV. Jared has been very outspoken about his own depression issues and encouraging others to “always keep fighting.” He has promoted several campaigns on Represent.com with t-shirts with his and sometimes his Supernatural co-star, Jensen Ackles, face on them. This campaign on Represent.com has proceeds going to the PACK Fund, a donor-advised fund dedicated to the long-term support of assorted 501c(3)’s.

Kristin Bauer van Straten: The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT). You can purchase personalized elephant stationary, available through this link on Etsy, which directly benefits DSWT, whose aim is to help rescue and rehabilitate young elephants orphaned by ivory poachers.

Lana Parrilla: Face Forward. Lana recently finished a fundraising effort for Face Forward, a Los Angeles based charity focused on helping domestic violence victims move forward, with “Long Live Hope” t-shirts on Represent.com. All of the proceeds went to Face Forward, which provides physical and emotional reconstruction for women and children who have been victimized by domestic violence or any cruel act of crime.
Although the fundraiser ended this week, you can continue to support Face Forward at their website: www.faceforwardla.org.
