Merlin Season 5, Episode 8 Review: “The Hollow Queen”

In “The Hollow Queen”, Morgana continues her reign of terror through Queen Guinevere.  Not much has changed in Gwen’s demeanor from the previous episode, but Morgana takes it up a notch by enlisting the help of others.  She aims to turn the Queen into a traitor and a murderer so that she can take power. Merlin Season 5, Episode 6 Review- “The Dark Tower”

A damsel in distress; her brave handsome knight who comes to save her; an evil witch:  These are the classic conventions of this week’s episode of “Merlin”, “The Dark Tower”.  The story is less complicated than some of the previous weeks’ adventures, mostly concentrated around a format of steal-seek-find-fight.  While this makes it slightly easier to follow, it also drags a little.  Arthur and his men make camp at dusk at least 3 times, and the narrative frequently cuts back to Gwen, terrified in the tower.  As always, spoilers ahead.

Review: Merlin 5.05 – “The Disir”

In this week’s episode of “Merlin”, Arthur’s fate draws ever closer.  But what is the difference between fate and destiny?  This is the question Arthur wonders aloud as both he and Merlin are directly faced with the elements that could bring about both his and Camelot’s destruction.  The episode weaves these elements together expertly, leaving us feeling just as concerned as Merlin is.

“Another’s Sorrow”: Merlin Season 5 Episode 4 Review!

Just like I said she would be, Morgana is back in this week’s episode of Merlin, “Another’s Sorrow”.  She even has a new goth princess hairstyle, looking like Amy Lee of the band Evanescence, and operating from her new stronghold in the kingdom of Nemeth.  I’m still not quite sure how she’s still alive.  She must be like Rasputin or a cat because just when you think she’s dead, there she is again!  I could have sworn that Mordred stabbed her two episodes ago.  Apparently not.  Time to move on.  Remember… spoilers ahead Read more about “Another’s Sorrow”: Merlin Season 5 Episode 4 Review!

“Arthur’s Bane, Part Two” – Merlin Season 5, Episode 2 Review!

This just in:  Things heat up when Morgana shares her bed with a dragon!  A baby dragon, that is.  And she’s just petting it while laying in bed, so don’t get too excited.  If I just managed to surprise you even a little with that first sentence, then you are either easily convinced or you read too much fanfiction.  Either way, the second episode of Season 5, and Part 2 of “Arthur’s Bane”, is full of surprises.  Look out below for spoilers.
