‘Husbands #5: Arch Nemesis’ and ‘Husbands #6: Agent Secrets’ Review – The Extraordinary Ordinary!

Well, we’ve reached the end of the road, comic book sniffers! This week saw the wrap up of Dark Horse Comics’ digital alliance with Jane Espenson and Brad “Cheeks” Bell’s Husbands property, and the last two chapters are absolutely stellar. For such an unlikely foray into comics, team Husbands has really delivered in a way that “the big two” endlessly struggle to achieve. Espenson, Bell, and Dark Horse have given this geek a booster shot of optimism that the comic book medium still has the potential to go way beyond the “capes and cowls,” appealing to new readers who have no interest in the super-powered beating that crap out of each other during the latest event o’ epic-ness.

‘Husbands #4: Nocte Machinas’ Review: ‘Husbands’ in Space!

Sorry for the belated review, comic book sniffers, but like the hyper-sleeping Ellen Ripley, even if it’s 57 years later, I eventually arrive at my destination (hopefully, without any acid-bleeding stowaways)! Husbands #4: Nocte Machinas is the next chapter in the comic genre-jumping saga of Cheeks, Brady, and Haley and pushes the plot to places where no Husbands story has ever gone before! That’s right! “Husbands in space” is finally here, and we’ve been cleared for access to the bridge!

‘Husbands #3: A Case of Assumption’ Review – Sherlocking in Those Readers!

Brady, Cheeks, and Haley continue their ‘verse-jumping adventure through iconic and geeky genres in Dark Horse Comics’ digital release this week of Husbands #3: A Case of Assumption. At this point, if you’ve been following my previous reviews, you’re probably tired of hearing over and over about how frakkin’ enjoyable this book is, but don’t blame me! It’s completely the fault of writers Jane Espenson and Brad “Cheeks” Bell, who are simply refusing to turn down the awesomeness by even a notch!

‘Husbands: Drawn In #2’ Review: A Goddamsel Good Time!

Some may be skeptical of the online sitcom Husbands‘ recent transition to the world of digital comics, but the Comic Book Slayer is here to inform you that those concerns have been proven false. You’re missing out if you don’t have Dark Horse’s Husbands: Drawn In in your web-based pull list! This week saw the release of the second issue of Husbands: Drawn In, written by Jane Espenson and Brad “Cheeks” Bell and featuring the art of Natalie Nourigat (Between Gears), and rest assured, comic book sniffers, that the level of wit, fun, and old-fashioned awesomeness does not drop an inch with this latest edition.

‘Husbands: Drawn In #1’ Review – Switching Mediums Like a Boss!

With their extremely successful sitcom Husbands, creators Jane Espenson and Brad Bell have exceeded expectations, earned rave reviews and praise from critics and fans, and pushed the classic premise of the newlywed sitcom into the modern American world where marriage equality is an ever-present issue (check out FBC’s interview Espenson and Bell here). Having mastered its online sitcom format, Husbands made the jump this week (with Espenson and Bell) into the sequential art universe in the form of a digital release from Dark Horse Comics, and, honestly, from where this Comic Book Slayer is sitting, Husbands: Drawn In #1 scores a near-perfect landing!
